googl panda penguin imageThe process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results.

What is the importance of SEO:

In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine’s users.

Earlier this year, Optify published its results from a December 2010 study of Google Click Thru Rates (CTR) on organic results.

  • The #1 position receives  ~36% of the clicks
  • The #2 position receives ~12.5% of the clicks
  • The#3 position  receives  ~9.5% of the clicks
  • The first page receives 89% of the clicks
  • The rest of the positions receive an exponentially decreasing percentage of clicks the farther they are from the #1 position

SEO can be used to target different kinds of searches, including image searches, local searches, video searches, academic searches, news searches, and general searches.

The process of SEO:

Search engine optimization is an inherently complicated and complex process.  SEO considers the basic principles of how the current search engine algorithms work, what people are searching for, the actual search terms that are typed into a search engine, and which search engines are to be specifically targeted.

Step 1:

The process begins by selecting a list of keywords that a client would like to target.  Once the keywords are selected they are analyzed for search volume, the competitiveness of the term, and related terms.  If we believe there may be other specific terms that may benefit your business we will send you a list of additional terms to see if they may also be something you wish to target.

Step 2:

The second portion of SEO is two step process.  The first part is to add the keywords to specific pages designated relevant to the term.  This is done in two parts.  The first portion is to edit the actual code of the specific page, in order to place the relevant terms into the meta tag section of the pages code, along with some additional places.  The second portion is related to the pages actual content.  This usually involves rewriting existing content, or if a site is being done from scratch, building on the content that your old site had.  The specific keywords for a designated page will be seamlessly placed throughout the page contents, so that when the search engine crawls your site it is able to find the keywords throughout the relevant content.

Step 3:

After the onsite SEO has been completed, its time for link building.  In order to get optimal placement in a search engines results page it is critical to have external sites linking to your site.  The reason that link building is so important is that search engines view links from related sites as a defining characteristic in determine whether or not your site is “important”.  If for example, you can get links to your site from existing customers, it shows that you are a relevant result and the more links you have the more relevant you must be.

During the SEO process we will be tracking your sites performance, and be continually checking on your sites rankings.  We will send you monthly reports detailing your rank and progress for your designated keywords.  This way you can see how you are progressing through the SEO process.  As you climb to the top of the search engine results page, your keywords will become a defining source of traffic, and business conversions.
